Reglan Drug Warning

The attorneys at Macey & Searns are investigating cases of tardive dyskinesia and other serious side effects resulting from the long-term use of Baxter Healthcare Corporation’s anti-nausea drug, Reglan. The drug, generic name metoclopramide, is currently approved by the FDA to fight nausea and vomiting associated with GERD, cancer chemotherapy treatment and post-operative patients, among other illnesses. Tardive dyskinesia causes devastating and uncontrollable twitches of the face and tongue as well as unstoppable movements of the fingers.

On February 26, 2009, the FDA issued a black-box warning for Reglan, further alerting both patients and physicians of the very real and very serious side effects associated with Reglan. Elderly women and those taking Reglan for extended periods of time are most likely to contract this side-effects, which may be permanent and untreatable.
